1. The majority of illegal immigrants in the United States are Hispanic.
2. Asian girls that work in massage parlors are probably illegal and slaves.
3. Most of the terrorists attacks in the world in the last 20 years have been carried out by radicals, most, not all who are Islamic.
4. In urban centers, gang membership is primarily either Hispanic or Black youth.
5. High dollar white collar crimes are mostly carried out by white men.
6. Low income children are more likely to become low income adults.
This is only a very few of the "generalizations" that one can make. Ask yourself if any of them are untrue; not politically incorrect, but untrue. Do these generalizations make profiling OK? That is the million dollar question. I submit that profiling is not inherently bad, but the complete avoidance of it is.
If you go to the airport today, in order to prevent the appearance of profiling, a 90 year old that walks with a walker and can barely get through airport security is required to remove their shoes and may be "randomly" chosen for an enhanced search. What good does that serve? There has NEVER been a terrorist that is elderly and walks with a walker.
If you are driving down the highway and see a Chevy van with 14 people inside, what would you guess the race of those people would be? Now... ask yourself, if you automatically assumed what I am pretty sure you did, isn't that profiling. Now, is that wrong or is that a law enforcement tool?
Here is the issue in my opinion. Not that profiling is bad but that it is abused. Holding law enforcement responsible to not abuse their charter is the solution to the profiling issue. I believe that if you meet the profile, you should be happy to be subject to questioning. If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about. Those who are worried about getting caught are the ones who don't like profiling.
Just my thoughts.... yours???

My thought is when do the rest of us need to start getting our ID tatoos to prove we are the "Right" kind of people. I'm sure when Nazi Germany started making ALL jews carry ID papers it sounded like a good idea to what they saw as a problem with a certain ethnic group. Who's next? Blacks? Asian? Jews? Irish? Italians? Republicans? Democrats? Once that first step is taken, the NEXT time is sooooo much easier.
ReplyDeleteThe borders need to be tightened period, but this does not solve that problem
Are we talking about a problem with one ethnic group? As I see it, we are talking about particular people in ethnic groups. The United States is comprised of different ethnic groups, and the most unfortunate thing is that some people in these ethnic groups are ruining it for others. By the way, tightening the borders is targeting specific ethnic groups, but the borders are not the only problems, the people already here are as well.
ReplyDeleteActually, isn't it a problem with the people who are hiring illegals? Where are the over the top penelties for these people that will stop making it so attractive for them to come here illegally?
ReplyDeleteI agree with that. There definitely needs to be some enforcing going on as I think there are already laws on the books. Further, if the Feds can't get the mustard cut, then the states should. Kudos Arizona. Actually, if the people of Arizona, or in my case Oklahoma, don't want illegal immigrants in their state, then they should pass laws to remedy the situation. Let all these bleeding heart states like California and company take the illegals, care for them, and do whatever. I think enforcement at the state level is better (or any legislation) because we are more represented.
